Mary Lou Eagan Muratori
Ever since I can remember, all I wanted to do was sing. I sang everywhere I could: In high school choir and theater, at home with my hairbrush microphone and with my friends in our make-shift singing competitions. It wasn’t until high school that I decided to take singing to the next level, and that meant taking real voice lessons. And that is when I met Mary Lou Eagan Muratori. (more…)

Concert review: Sundown, Balsam Inn, East Pharsalia, NY, Sat., Aug. 22, 2009
By Rachel Heisler

Sundown
Not all good bands reside in NYC, L.A. or Seattle. Some, like Sundown, are doing their thing in some of the smallest towns in the country. Unless you’re actually from Norwich, East Pharsalia or Greene, it’s unlikely you’ve ever heard of the cow towns of Upstate NY. But if you are familiar with these quaint little towns, it’s possible you have run across Sundown at a local bar somewhere along the way. (more…)

Concert Preview: Infected Mushroom Live On Tour

Erez Eisen and Amit "Duvdev" Duvedevani
Infected Mushroom seems to get their voice of passion from ingesting the great mysterious magic mushroom. Depending on the strain of mushie would determine the intensity of their elicit state in which they create their music. We’re not 100% sure if the guys do in fact ingest the aforementioned fungi, but it doesn’t matter. Their psy-trance beats can transport you to another dimension whether they, or you, are straight or … not.
And now is a great time to check them out, as they are currently on tour in support of their upcoming release, Legend of the Black Shawarma, which will be released Sept. 8 on Perfecto Records. This, Infected’s eighth CD, features vocal performances by Korn’s Jonathan Davis on the lead single, “Smashing The Opponent,” and Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell on the track “Killing Time”.
“It’s a really diverse record,” Duvdev (Amit Duvedevani) says, “but it’s even more aggressive-both on the metal side and on the breakbeat side.”
No doubt the live show will take this diversity to even more extreme and conscience-expanding levels … if you let it.

Concert review: Chris Brown, Mandalay Bay, January
By Nikki Williams

Concerts just ain’t like they used to be. Sure, you have your usual scantily clad groupies, your throngs of overly excited high school-aged girls, your random groups of less-than-fashionable guys and your occasional older, non-chaperoning, completely out-of-place fans all mixed together in a less-than-intimate atmosphere avidly anticipating the performance of 18-year-old heart-throb pop singer Chris Brown … but what is up with the extreme commercialism and the lack of showmanship? Show review: Danny Gans, The Mirage, Las Vegas, NV
By Shelle

It’s no wonder he’s been voted Las Vegas’ Entertainer of the Year 10 times — Danny Gans can sing! And not only does he sing well, he has the ability to sound like practically any performer you can imagine. Gans is also a great comedian, impressionist and actor, and all facets come out to play at his show at the Mirage. (more…)

Concert reviews: Vegoose 2007, October 26-28, Sam Boyd Stadium, Las Vegas
By Beverly Bryan, Shelle and Rachel Heisler
During Vegoose, Sam Boyd Studium’s field is turned into a riotous area full of three stages, vendors and food and drink booths, V.I.P. sections and more. The way in which to enjoy the full experience is to get their early so you don’t have to rush, and don’t stress out if you miss a show. Another one is always on the horizon and no matter what bands you see they are pretty much guaranteed to rock. You’ll inevitably find that you’ll hear music you’ve never heard before and be blown away. This year a few performances stood out as winners: Iggy and the Stooges, Cypress Hill and Rage Against the Machine, but M.I.A. and Robert Randolph held their own at this, Vegas’ largest music festival.
