ROCKWORKS Foundation, a charitable “construction-production” organization, presents the new ROCKWORKS Showcase, a fundraising campaign designed to help rebuild the Gult Coast (Forest Heights, Mississippi, to be exact). The showcase format is on online battle of the bands that will not only help those in need, but also offer an opportunity for exposure to unsigned bands.
“ROCKWORKS builds a community of dedicated fans of new music, while educating them on new ways to become a ‘giver in life,’” said Scott Kramer, Executive Producer for the ROCKWORKS Foundation in a recent press release. “We believe it’s not how much you can give, just the fact that you gave, so all we’re asking for is one dollar with this campaign.”
Fans are also encouraged to donate at a minimal level. In order to nominate their favorite artists for this opportunity, fans are asked to donate $1 to ROCKWORKS’ Gulf Coast [re]Build Program.
For those interested in taking part in the battle, register and upload your best song for free at www.rockworks.us/showcase. The song will be streamed on ROCKWORKS Showcase’s Online Radio Network. Bands accumulate “nominations” from fans, and the top groups will be sent to the final round of competition. As the official charity of CMJ Music Marathon 2006, ROCKWORKS Showcase offers four finalists a chance to perform live at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City, for a room of music industry professionals.
The four finalists will win round-trip airfare to NYC, hotel accommodations for two nights in the Big Apple, transportation to and from the CMJ Music Marathon performance venue, a 15-minute set in the Rockworks Showcase final live-performance round at CMJ Music Marathon, in front of music industry A&R, studios, labels, managers and celebrities, and the three runners-up will receive Line 6 equipment packages. The Grand Prize winning song will be promoted online via ROCKWORKS DRM viral distribution technology, and the grand prize-winning video (live performance during CMJ) will also be promoted online.
